Discipleship Council
Discipleship Council was formed to reach out to not only the St. Stephen community but to everyone!
Discipleship Council for 2008 - 2009:
St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center is the bomb! As a junior Spanish and Marketing double major at UNI, I am so thankful to be a member of the thriving community here on campus. My hometown is Manchester, Iowa; however, I have grown to think of Cedar Falls as a home too. The people, environment, and energy at St. Stephens has definitely helped make my time so far at UNI exceptional. At St. Stephens, I am a co-chair for the Community Life Committee, cantor, accompanyist, lector, and consumer of all the delicious food they offer!

My name is Adam Bormann, and I’m a 5th year Senior majoring in Manufacturing Technology (an equivalent to Manufacturing Engineering) from West Bend, Iowa. My home parish is Saint’s Peter and Paul Catholic Church. My home town is also the site of the world famous Grotto of the Redemption. I am currently serving on the Discipleship Council as Vice President. My duties include assisting the outreach areas, and presiding over meetings in the absence of our President. As Vice President I also have an active role in the Witness Council. The Witness Council is a group of students, and non-students who seek to unite everyone at St. Stephens through fellowship, and all inclusive events. Furthermore, I’m trained as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at mass. In addition to my duties as a student and Discipleship Council member, I’m also employed as a Part Time Student at the John Deere Waterloo Works. As part of the Discipleship Council I’m hoping to gain many new friends, and become closer to my Catholic faith. I also look forward to watching new students become more involved in the ministries at St Stephen!

I come from Dubuque, Iowa and I’m a member of the Holy Ghost parish. I’m a sophomore at UNI and my major is Spanish. Last year I attended Men’s Group, a volleyball game or two, and Sunday masses at 9pm. This year I am apart of Service outreach and will be helping with such things as the Thanksgiving food baskets, Adopt-A-Highway, and Clean-Up Days at St. Stephen. I hope to make many new friends and new experiences at St. Stephen.
After three years here at UNI, I am now entering my senior year. If there is anything I have learned throughout college, other than academics, it would be to get involved. Hence, I am now involved here at St. Stephen as a member of the Discipleship Council. The building and the people involved with St. Stephen have been a haven/home for me for four years now. I have taken part in greeting and now I am a member of the Social Justice outreach area. My specialty in this outreach is Catholic Worker House. I love being active in sports, hanging with friends, and being with my family in Hartley, Iowa. If I consider the church my family, I can take part in all three of those areas at St. Stephen, and that is why I love it sooo much!! (No matter where you are from you should go to the events held at St. Stephen)
I am a sophomore business major. I was born and raised right here in the great city of Cedar Falls, Iowa and was a member of the The St. Patrick Catholic Church . I will be helping guide new learners of our faith through the RCIA process here at St. Stephen. I am very excited to be apart of the St. Stephen community, and am looking forward to a great here of meeting new people and growing in my own faith as well as seeing others grow in theirs.
I am a junior Physical Education major with a minor in Coaching from Pella, IA. At St. Stephen I have been involved in the Antioch Retreat, Men's Group, Ambassadors, and GIFT Groups. As one of the Ambassador leaders I will be organizing groups from the Student Center to put on retreats for high school students that are going to be confirmed.

Hello all, my name is Nile Jones, and I am a native of Davenport, Iowa. I am between majors at the moment, so I can readily identify with those of you whose futures are also up in the air. I am a sophomore who enjoys long walks on beaches, stargazing, and the occasional Sunday mass. I find that St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center’s activities supplement my college experiences. For me, those activities started with Prime Time. From there, I was encouraged to attend Antioch, an amazing retreat, helping with other retreats, volunteering at the Lenten Fish Fry, and now joining the Discipleship Council. With a variety of things on our to do list, I have found it is easy to find activities that I enjoy.
