El Faro Connection

El Faro is a group that strives to give Christian witness to the value and dignity of human life, by empowering the communities of St. Stephen's and El Faro in developing ongoing solutions for El Faro's financial, educational, and spiritual needs. El Faro is an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico that is in need of help financially and spiritually. In March of 2001, four members from St. Stephen's were sent down to see if our community could help this orphanage of 70 children. Upon our return a committee was formed, and we started the El Faro Water Project. Enough money was raised during the water project, to give El Faro clean, life-giving water for 2 years. Our goal for the St. Stephen's community and El Faro is to develop a more personal relationship. The project that we are currently working on is writing letters to the children of El Faro once a month. Each child has been paired with a member from St. Stephen's to help build a stronger relationship between the two communities.
