Liturgy Committee
This group meets approximately three times
a semester to plan seasonal liturgical celebrations. They make
suggestions as to the prayers, rituals, music and style of worship
utilized within our services.
Worship Team
This group meets weekly to share the Scriptures
together to enhance not only personal preparation and prayer, but to
help to connect the Word with community happenings and homiletic
suggestions. This group will meet on Tuesday afternoons from
4:00-5:00 PM beginning September 10th.
Eucharistic Ministers
These ministers help distribute the
Precious Body and the Precious Blood at Sunday celebrations, at daily
Eucharist, or for any funerals that we may have. People interested in
this ministry will be asked at the in-service to what level of
involvement they will be committing. Cleansing and purifying the
vessels following a celebration with the sacristan will occur on a
rotating basis.
Ministers of the Word
This ministry involves the proclaiming
of the scripture readings for Eucharistic celebrations. The reading
of the Prayers of the faithful and the Call To Worship are also part
of the responsibility. Seasonal adaptations may occur. Readings are
provided for a week ahead of time for your private meditation and
rehearsal.
Ministers of Hospitality
These ministers consist of
individuals who serve as both greeter and usher for the Center.
Ministers of Hospitality are the face and hands of Christ to all who
gather to celebrate. Ministers must arrive at least a half an hour
prior to the celebration.
Ministers of Music
Anyone who enjoys praising God with the
gift of song or music is encouraged to share their talents. Cantors
help to lead the community in song. Instrumentalists, song leaders,
and cantors commit as often as they desire. The choir is composed of
students and non-students who enjoy singing or playing an instrument.
They minister (sing) once a month and rehearse every Tuesday evening
at 7PM. Other ensembles and small groups are scheduled to minister
once a month. People interested in music ministry will indicate their
level of commitment at the in-service.
Collection Counters
Money collected from the celebration is
to be counted and recorded according to archdiocesan guidelines. An
in-service will provide step-by-step instructions. The time
commitment for this ministry is approximately twenty minutes
following the liturgy.
Sacristan
This ministry is essential. Its detailed
preparation has been written out for convenience as well as for
thoroughness. The sacristan must arrive at least a half an hour
before the liturgy. It involves not only preparing the gifts of bread
and wine but also the preparation of the vessels, the liturgical
books, and the turning on of the lights and the sound system. The
purifying (cleaning) of vessels with a eucharistic minister following
the liturgy is approximately fifteen minutes.
ALL LITURGICAL MINISTERS are required to attend an in-service once a year in order to be scheduled. This will ensure that all ministers will be informed of any changes that have been made or of any changes in the guidelines from the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
Preferred mass times will be asked upon sign-up at the in-services attended.
Every week as a reminder, ministers scheduled for the following week will be contacted.
