The Peer Ministry program began in 1997 and continues this year with a new direction as well as a few new faces. The Peer Ministers are initiators, organizers, greeters, and faith sharers. They also have a specific area of ministry in which they will focus on. Working with a designated ministry mentor, each hopes to encourage involvement in center activities. Bethany:Hi everyone! My name is Bethany Fiagle and I am the Spiritual Life Peer Minister this year. I have a double major Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education with a minor in Literacy. My home parish is St. Mary's in Iowa City. I love my faith, curling up with a book, spending time with friends and family, traveling, hanging out at St. Stephen, trying new things, and a good cup of coffee. Emily:Hey Everyone! My name is Emily Hurd. I am the Social Justice Peer Minister this year. I am so excited to be a student leader here at St.Stephen. My home parish is St. Henry's in Marshalltown, Iowa. I am junior currently going to UNI to receive a double major in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education with a math teaching minor. This year is going to be a great year; we have so many great opportunities planned to help out the cedar valley and the surrounding area!! Stephen:This is Stephen Waterman, currently a senior at UNI with a major in Criminology and a minor in Spanish. I am the Publicity Peer Minister this year, and I'm very excited to share the Catholic faith with community. I hope to bring many new faces to St. Stephen the Witness and with the help of the rest of the staff it will be a great year. I enjoy music, my faith, and a good pair of slacks.
