St. Stephen the Witness Campus Ministry Team 

Dr. Len Froyen
Len became involved at St. Stephen when he enrolled as a student at Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in 1953. Since his ordination as a deacon in 1989, he has been more involved in liturgical celebrations and preaches approximately once a month. He previously served as director of the Permanent Diaconate in the Archdiocese of Dubuque after retiring from the UNI faculty. He is most ardent about his daily prayer and exercising weekdays at the WRC. Len and Gail, his wife of 50 years, have three adult children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He coordinates activities sponsored by the non-student population that regularly worships at the Student Center and, with his wife, is responsible for the pre-marriage Sponsor Couple program

* Responsibilities include: Deacon, liaison to Group-X, counseling, pre-marriage seminar, Co-chair of Mission Statement Committee.

 
Lisa Geisler
Lisa re-entered the working world at St. Stephen in September 2002, after being a stay-at-home mom for seven years. Lisa has lived in Cedar Falls since 1990 with her husband, Greg, and their two young boys, Jason and Travis. In her free time, Lisa likes to be with her family, read, walk, bake and cheer on the Waterloo Black Hawks.
* Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:30pm
* Responsibilities include: Receptionist, office operations, maintains records, database, and manages facilities rental.
 

 
Fr. Ken Glaser
Fr. Ken joined the pastoral team in the Fall of 2004. He is a 1985 graduate of New Hampton Community Schools, 1990 graduate of Iowa State University, and 2000 graduate of the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN, with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained June 4, 2000, celebrating his Mass of Thanksgiving in his home parish, Immaculate Conception Church, North Washington. In his spare time, Fr. Ken enjoys bike riding, camping, snow skiing and traveling.
* Office Hours: Monday-Friday 11:00am-5:00pm
* Day off: Tuesday
* Fr. Ken is present most evenings
* Responsibilities include: Sacramental priest for the community, baptismal preparation, marriage preparation, RCIA Coordinator, and he offers a variety of educational offerings.
 

Fr. Ken
Erin Kass
Erin Kass, Campus Minister, became a member of the campus ministry team in July 2009. She grew up in Sumner, Iowa, and considers herself “an Iowa farm kid at heart.” She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English (Literature) from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and later went on to complete a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies as well as a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri. She has a passion for working with people who want to grow personally and spiritually, in hopes that they will be empowered and supported in living more fulfilling lives.  This has been demonstrated in her experience in campus ministry, spiritual direction, life coaching, and working with people with developmental disabilities, among other things.  Her personal interests include watching movies, listening to music, reading, and playing games.

* Responsibilities include: RCIA Coordinator, Spiritual Direction & Campus Ministry
Erin Kass
Kelly McCormick
Kelly, Development Coordinator, joined the team in June 2005. She has been active as a volunteer and board member for various nonprofit organizations in the Cedar Valley.  Kelly is pursuing her Masters in Organizational Communication at UNI.  During the summers, she is a percussionist with the Cedar Falls Municipal Band.  Besides her enthusiasm for music, she also enjoys photography, game nights with friends, volunteering and reading.

Anastasia Nicklaus Schmelzer
Ann, Director of Liturgy and Music, became part of the campus ministry team in August 2007. Previous to her time at the Student Center, her professional background included journalism, teaching, and directing a parish religious education/youth ministry program.  Her main goal at St. Stephen the Witness is to help others recognize and develop their God-given gifts and talents so they can use them to benefit the whole community. Some of her specific responsibilities include liturgical ministries, liturgy planning, choir, retreats, and other prayer experience offerings.  Ann earned a Master of Arts degree in Ministry from Loras College in 2003, and she enjoys sharing her love of God, prayer, and music at St. Stephen. When not at the Student Center, Ann spends her time catching up with friends and family (especially over a meal), reading, listening to music, and working on home projects.
